Research & Collaborations

Our Research Capabilities
At Acubed IT, we believe innovation is the backbone of national resilience. Our Research & Development (R&D) department is dedicated to tackling the most complex security challenges faced by modern governments and high-risk organisations.
We specialise in research and feasibility assessments, ensuring new technologies are viable and effective before implementation. Our expertise in new product introduction (NPI) enables us to transform concepts into practical, secure solutions. We also develop bespoke prototypes tailored to the unique needs of our partners, from government bodies to critical infrastructure providers.
Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We work closely with government agencies to align with regulatory frameworks. Our expertise extends to integrating next-generation cryptography and secure data architectures, reinforcing the security foundations of digital transformation.

Cross Domain Hybrid Applications (CDHA)
At Acubed IT, we specialise in next-generation cross-domain solutions, collaborating with government departments to drive innovation in cybersecurity. Through dedicated research and development, we create advanced technologies that strengthen the UK’s cyber resilience, ensuring national security remains a top priority.
Our in-house team of experts brings extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and developing customised, secure cross-domain applications. We work primarily with government departments and public sector organisations, delivering seamless solutions that enable the secure sharing of critical information across security domains - without compromising on protection.
Discover how XD‑CORE®, our modular Cross Domain Hybrid Application (CDHA) platform, enables organisations to safeguard against evolving cyber threats.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)
Acubed IT is at the forefront of advanced cryptographic research, working in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University (ENU) and Innovate UK to explore transformative security solutions. Through our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project, Acubed IT is developing research into Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), Implementation of Lattice-Based Cryptography, Zero Knowledge Proofs, and Multi-Authority Attribute-Based Encryption (MA-ABE).
By collaborating with leading academic institutions, we are strengthening CDHA’s underlying security posture by incorporating post-quantum cryptography.

Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
Our research focuses on PQC key exchange (Kyber), advanced signature schemes (Dilithium, Falcon, SPHINCS+), hybrid encryption models for seamless migration, and secure data lifecycle strategies.
Post-Quantum Cryptographic Risk Assessment (PQC-RA) analyses Cryptographic Bill of Materials (CBOM) data, assigns Quantum Risk Scores, identifies encryption methods needing urgent upgrades, and designs strategic migration paths to post-quantum cryptography.
Through our research and strategic innovation, we are future-proofing cybersecurity, helping governments and high-security sectors to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Future Tech for Distributed Storage (Defence Focused)
We are exploring secure, distributed storage solutions built specifically for defence environments. Our work focuses on encrypting data as it moves securely across multiple domains, ensuring information is only shared based on specific roles, which is vital for mission-critical operations.
We're also developing strong, reliable systems that follow zero-trust principles to enhance security.
Additionally, we're looking at ways to synchronise data smoothly between edge locations and core systems, especially in situations where network connectivity may be disrupted.

Upcoming PhD Research: Privacy-Aware AI with Post-Quantum Cryptography and Homomorphic Encryption
A forthcoming doctoral project in collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University, focusing on the development of trusted AI systems that embed privacy-preserving cryptographic techniques, such as homomorphic encryption and post-quantum algorithms, for secure and future-resilient applications.
Our Cross-Domain Collaborations
At Acubed IT, collaboration is central to how we deliver secure, future-ready solutions. We work across Defence, HMG, Academia, and Industry to drive innovation, security, and operational excellence.
